Those of you who have read my earlier posts will know that this is the first item of clothing I have ever made. Personally I think it turned out OK. Some parts of the making process were a little challenging, such as the neckline. It was sitting too low so I improvised and made a binding out of the leftover fabric. I think it gives the dress a slight professional feel which I like.
I would love to hear your comments on the dress, do you like it?
I was very keen to have it finished for my birthday on Monday just gone. Thankfully I (just!) made it and I wore it to see The Phantom Of The Opera at the Palace Theatre. Now what else have I got coming up that I could wear it for?!

I think it looks lovely! I especially like the skirt. I missed the other instalments - was this from a bought pattern or one that you made yourself?

I bought it from a local fabric shop but I have found it online at http://www.sewingworld.co.uk/McCalls_Dresses.html. The skirt has a lovely flow movement about it. What kind of things do you make? I personally found the difficulty level of this pattern to be fine for myself as a beginner, Charlotte x

ReplyDeleteI've made dresses for myself before but when I make my own patterns they often end up a little tight. I have some fabric waiting to be made into a skirt at the moment but right now I am busy playing around with felt things.
It's impressive that you've made your own patterns though, I suppose the more practice the better they will fit. I'd love to make my own patterns eventually. I had a look at your felt items on the blog, they are very cute! Do you make your own felt? X
